Ex-Penguins forward Brian Gibbons signs with Linkoping in Sweden

Former Penguins forward Brian Gibbons has signed with Linkoping of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

The team announced Gibbons’ signing on its website.

During the 2020-21 season, Gibbons played for Lausanne of Switzerland’s National League (NL), appearing in 46 games and scoring 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists).

A native of Braintree, Mass., Gibbons, 33, spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins. During the 2013-14 season, he appeared in 41 games for the Penguins and scored 17 points (five goals, 12 assists).

In addition to the Penguins, Gibbons has played NHL games for the Columbus Blue Jackets, New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes.
