Pirates farm report for June 24, 2021: Cal Mitchell raps tie-breaking homer for Altoona

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 24-20) handled Louisville (Reds), 6-2. RF Bligh Madris and 2B T.J. Rivera hit back-to-back home runs in a five-run first inning. Madris went 1 for 3 with a walk. His home run, a two-run shot, was his second of the season. Rivera, who went 2 for 4, hit his fourth homer. SS Kevin Kramer went 2 for 4 to up his average to .200. 3B Wilmer Difo went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. RHP Nick Mears pitched two scoreless innings of relief to improve to 1-1. RHP Kyle Keller started and went two innings, allowing one run. His ERA is 1.80.

Next: Friday at Louisville (Reds), 7 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 26-18) got a two-run home run from RF Cal Mitchell in the eighth inning to rally past Harrisburg (Nationals), 4-2. 1B Mason Martin went 2 for 4 with an RBI double, his 12th. 3B Rodolfo Castro went 1 for 3 with a double. He’s hitting .317. DH Brendt Citta went 2 for 4 with an RBI. CF Jonah Davis also went 2 for 4. LHP Trey McGough started and gave up two runs on six hits in six innings with no walks and two strikeouts. RHP Hunter Stratton got four outs to earn the win, improving to 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA.

Next: Friday vs. Harrisburg (Nationals), 7 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High A, 25-20) lost 8-7 to Greenville (Red Sox) in 10 innings. RHP Tahnaj Thomas started and struggled with control, walking seven in 2.2 innings. He gave up three runs and two hits, striking out one. RHP Alexander Manasa didn’t give up a hit in 4.2 innings of scoreless relief. DH Fabricio Macias went 2 for 4 with a double and his fifth home run. He’s hitting .336. 1B Matt Gorski went 1 for 5 with a two-run homer, his sixth. C Grant Koch went 1 for 4 with his third homer. 2B Francisco Acuna went 1 for 3 and slugged his second homer. SS Liover Peguero went 1 for 4 with a walk and his ninth stolen base.

Next: Friday vs. Greenville (Red Sox), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low A, 29-15) and Jupiter (Marlins) were rained out. The game will be made up Friday as part of a doubleheader.
