Pirates farm report for May 15, 2021: 4 Bradenton pitchers combine on no-hitter

BRADENTON (Low-A, 7-4) Four pitchers combined on a no-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Dunedin (Blue Jays). RHP Jose Maldonado, an international free agent signing, started and went two innings, striking out four and walking one. RHP Cameron Junker, a 2019 10th-round pick out of Notre Dame, followed with a three-inning appearance, also striking out four and walking one. RHP Brennan Malone, a top prospect acquired in the Starling Marte deal, worked one inning, walking one. RHP Wandi Montout, an international free agent signing, worked three innings to finish it off, strking out three and walking three. RF Sergio Campana drove in the game’s only runs with a single in the fourth inning. 2B Jase Bowen singled, stole a base and scored a run.

Next: Sunday at Dunedin (Blue Jays), 1 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 6-4) topped Toledo (Tigers), 5-4. Veteran knuckleballing RHP Steven Wright had a solid first start for Indianapolis, allowing one run on three hits in five innings, striking out four and walking two. RHP Tyler Bashlor recorded two outs, both via strikeout, to earn his first save. DH Dustin Fowler tripled and hit a three-run home run. SS Cole Tucker went 2 for 3 with a double to up his average to .200. CF Travis Swaggerty went 0 for 4 and saw his average fall to .194. C Joe Hudson had two hits.

Next: Sunday vs. Toledo (Tigers), 1:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 7-3) scored two in the 10th to run its winning streak with seven games with a 6-5 win over Binghamton (Mets). SS Josh Bissonnette doubled to drive in the runner that started on second base and later scored on a passed ball. CF Jonah Davis went 2 for 5 with a triple and a solo home run, his second, in the first inning. 1B Mason Martin went 2 for 4 to improve his average to .306 and his OPS to .946. SS Ji-hwan Bae doubled. RHO Osvaldo Bido was effective, giving up two hits in five scoreless innings, striking out three and walking none. LHP Cam Alldred pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Next: Sunday at Binghamton (Mets), 1:05 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 6-5) beat Rome (Braves) 6-5 in 10 innings. LHP Omar Cruz, acquired in the Joe Musgrove trade, turned in a dominant start, allowing no hits in four scoreless innings, striking out 10 and walking two. SS Nick Gonzales went 0 for 5 but drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th on a groundout. He’s still hitting .333 with a 1.036 OPS. CF Matt Gorski went 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. C Grant Koch singled and doubled. RF Lolo Sanchez walked three times and stole two bases. 3B Jared Triolo went 2 for 5 with two RBIs.
