Hampton residents can look forward to more than $1 million in road improvements this summer.

Council approved the township’s road program to include nearly two dozen streets. Cost is $1.07 million and was awarded to Shields Asphalt Paving.

Work is expected to begin in June and could last through Aug. 12, Kevin Flannery, director of community services, said.

Resurfacing could occur sooner rather than later, depending on contractor availability.

Notices will be posted in the areas to be paved.

Flannery said Shields was the lowest qualified bid from among five submissions.

The township is in the third year of a 12-year plan for road paving, he said.

“Council reviews the plan every August and recommends the roads for budget consideration,” Flannery said.
