Plant sale
The Greybrooke Garden Club is hosting its annual spring plant sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 8 in McCandless.
Hanging baskets, perennials, herbs, annuals and garden supplies will be available for purchase. The event is being held in the grassy area near the Bonefish Grill restaurant in the McCandless Crossing Shopping Center on McKnight Road. A “Reading Corner” for kids hosted by Riverstone Books will be set up during the sale and kids will receive a free seed packet to plant. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help support Greybrooke’s annual donations to conservancy groups and community organizations.
Covid safety guidelines will be in place during the sale.
Blessing of the Athletes event
Blessing of the Athletes will be held April 24 at Perry Highway Lutheran Church.
Athletes of all ages and abilities are welcomed to attend. Those who come will receive a blessing in their endeavors and for safety as they pursue their given athletic activities.
A donation of a child’s bicycle helmet is encouraged if possible. They will be donated to the local United Way, which does a Bike Build Event every summer to put underserved children on bikes.
Participants are asked to arrive between 1-1:25 p.m. Parking is available in the Nextier Bank Parking lot beside the church or across the street in the UPMC Children’s Medical Center Parking Lot. Masks are required. The blessing will occur in the church parking lot. Pastor Tara Lynn will be giving the blessing at 1:30 p.m.
