During the Penguins’ 6-4 road win against the New Jersey Devils on Friday at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., goaltender Casey DeSmith made 26 saves on 30 shots.
One will live on in highlight form for some time to come.

About nine minutes into the second period, Devils forward Nicholas Merkley gained the offensive zone on the left wing, pulled up at the point and fed a pass to onrushing defenseman Damon Severson, who lifted a wrister that was blocked by backchecking Penguins forward Bryan Rust.
The rebound bounced low on the right wing, where it was claimed by Devils forward Jesper Boqvist. From a bad angle, Boqvist fired a wrister that was denied by DeSmith, who sprawled to his left and punched the puck away with his blocker for a highlight-reel stop.
During the second period, DeSmith made 10 saves on 11 shots.
“(DeSmith) was terrific,” coach Mike Sullivan said. “He made big saves for us, some real high-quality saves, especially in the second period. We got outplayed in the second period significantly, and (DeSmith) made some big stops for us. He had a real solid night. He was victim of a couple of fluky goals … but most of the night, I thought he was terrific.”
