Plum senior vaccine event

The Allegheny County Health Department and Plum Community Center will sponsor a first-shot covid vaccine clinic from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at the Plum Community Center, 499 Center New Texas Road.

The clinic is for Plum residents 65 and older only.

Prescription drug collection

The public can drop off potentially dangerous prescription medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 24 at the Plum Borough Council Chambers, 4575 New Texas Road.

In partnership with the DEA, the Plum Borough Police Department will collect tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes and other sharps, and illegal drugs will not be accepted. The DEA will continue to accept vaping devices and cartridges at its drop off locations provided lithium batteries are removed.

• Joshua Centorcelli and Anna Edmundson attained dean’s list status in the Fall 2020 semester at Lehigh University. Dean’s list status is granted to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses.

• Lawrence Hill, a senior Slippery Rock University art major from Verona will have his work on display now through April 30 in a virtual exhibition, “MOSAIC: Individually Together.”

In addition to showcasing the work of SRU art students, a virtual April 1 reception will also honor the winners of the Third Annual SRU Draw, a drawing competition sponsored by the University’s Art Department in January.

Women’s Business Network meetings

The Murrysville Chapter of the Women’s Business Network holds regular meetings from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. The next April meeting will take place on April 22. For more information, contact Katrina Burkett at 412-856-5250.

Plum sets annual cleanup day April 24

The Borough of Plum will holds its fifth annual community cleanup day from 8:30 to 10 a.m. April 24 at the Plum Borough Works Facility, 2001 Old Mine Road.

To participate, you must register by email. Send your group name and expected number of participants to plumcleanup@plumboro.com.

Drive-thru recycling event set in Oakmont

Noble Environmental will host a drive-thru recycling event April 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Riverside Park in Oakmont.

People can bring TVs, monitors, propane cylinders, non-video display electronics, paint, lawn and garden products, light bulbs, automotive products and more.

Plum Clean-Up Week

Free registration is open for the Plum Clean-Up Week. The cleanup is from April 19 to 24.

Organizers will match volunteers with seniors, and they can coordinate the best times during the week to lend a hand with yardwork or various tasks around the house. Those volunteers are asked to use their own equipment and supplies.

Fire Camp & Junior Fire Academy

Registration is open for the Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Fire Camp & Junior Fire Academy.

The third annual fire camp will be held from June 21 to 25.

Space is limited. There are three ways to register: email chief@holidayparkvfd.org; call 724-327-3456; or stop by in-person by visiting the fire station on any Tuesday between 6 and 10 p.m.
