Allegheny County reported the most additonal covid cases in over a month Friday, with at least one positive test coming from last March, according to the county Health Department.

There were 412 additional covid-19 cases reported, the most since Jan. 23 (464 cases). Cases were mostly confirmed via PCR tests, with 121 of the 412 listed as probable.

The county Health Department said 51 tests were more than a week old. Dates of positive tests ranged from March 23, 2020, to Thursday. The update noted that the Pennsylvania Department of Health “is aware of the issue, which impacted more than just Allegheny County, and is addressing.”

New cases ranged in age from one month to 98 years, with a median age of 38. Total cases now stand at 76,136.

Four additional covid-related deaths were reported Friday, bringing the death total in Allegheny County to 1,658.

Ages of those who died were: two in their 60s, one in their 70s and one in their 80s, with two deaths associated with a long-term care facility. Dates of death range from Feb. 3 – Feb. 20.

As of Friday, there are 192 covid-19 patients currently hospitalized, down 14 from Thursday’s number. The county has seen 20 days so far this month with hospitalizations over 200.
