The Northern Tier Library is offering contactless lobby pick-up of materials for patrons and is open for browsing. Computer use is by appointment only. Returned items will be quarantined for at least 72 hours, but often longer, before being checked in. A variety of programs and services are being offered remotely. For more information, call 724-449-2665 or visit northerntierlibrary.org.

Rhymes, Songs & Yoga Poses

This program is an interactive storytime featuring stories, wordplay and music, as well as yoga poses and stretches. This virtual program is for families with young children, and will be available to watch on the library’s Facebook page beginning 10:30 a.m. Feb. 25.

Toddler Story Time

A time to move, dance, share stories and sing songs with your busiest friends! These virtual storytimes are for toddlers and their families, and will be available to watch on the library’s Facebook page beginning at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 23.

Popcorn & Hot Chocolate

Do you feel like you have watched everything on Netflix? Why not try one of the library’s uniquely themed Movie Night Kits? Enjoy a couple of movies, a cup of hot chocolate and a bag of popcorn from the library for a great night in. To request a kit, message us on Facebook or call the library at 724-449-2665.

Blind Date with A Book

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Northern Tier Library is playing matchmaker! Going on a blind date is a lot like opening a new book: You never know what kind of experience you’re going to have. Call or stop by the library to select your “date” from the display of wrapped books, check one out and unwrap it when you get home. Hopefully, it’s love at first sight!

Knit Lit

Do you knit, crochet, or craft in any way? If not, would you like to learn? Knit Lit will be meeting online via Zoom at 6 p.m. Feb. 25. Beginners are invited to come and learn; experienced crafters are invited to bring a project to work on. Everyone is encouraged to bring their latest read to talk about. Registration is required to receive the Zoom meeting invitation link.

Winter Reading Challenge

Grab a cup of hot chocolate and challenge yourself to read some good books during the cold of winter. Libraries across Allegheny County are participating in the Winter Reading Challenge 2021. The challenge will end Feb. 28. Log the books you read and activities you complete through Beanstack to earn points for chances to win a prize. Beanstack can be accessed through carnegielibrary.beanstack.org or can be downloaded as an app on your device. If you registered for Beanstack during the Summer Learning Program, you can use the same login information. Please check out the website to learn more.
