Westmoreland County covid cases down 40% from same point in December

Westmoreland County has six more covid-related deaths and 198 cases Tuesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The new figures bring total deaths in the county to 541 and total cases to 23,451.

Thus far in January, there have been 4,118 covid cases and 118 deaths reported.

As compared to recent months, January’s case numbers are down 40% from December and up 69% from November. Here’s a breakdown of cases and deaths reported through the 19th:

Jan 1-Jan 19: 4,118 cases / 118 deaths

Dec. 1-Dec. 19: 6,942 cases / 146 deaths

Nov. 1-Nov. 19: 2,436 cases / 47 deaths

In Westmoreland County, there are 148 covid-19 patients hospitalized as of Tuesday, with 18 in the ICU and eight on ventilators, according to the DOH covid-19 dashboard. There are 25 ICU and 84 medical/surgical beds available, which represent 27% and 28% of those beds, respectively.
