Penn-Trafford opens kindergarten registration
Penn-Trafford will open its kindergarten registration on Jan. 18.
Residents with children entering kindergarten in the 2021-2022 school year are asked to complete the online form between Jan. 18 and Feb. 26.
The form is available at the school district website, www.penntrafford.org.
P-T students raise money for charities
Sunrise Estates Elementary School staff raised more than $1,500 for the Make-A-Wish foundation recently with a ‘Cookies for Dough’ event.
The school sold 267 cookie decorating kits. On Dec. 15, families drove through the Sunrise school circle in Penn Township to be greeted by the Sunrise staff, Santa, Mrs. Claus and some elves. They received their cookie orders, candy canes and holiday greetings.
Sunrise donated a total of $7,850 to Make-A-Wish from multiple fundraisers.
Karin Coiner, principal, was touched by the outpouring of support.
“We continue to be amazed at how our school, both staff and families, steps up when helping others. To know we are able to grant almost two full wishes for children in need is the absolute best feeling,” Coiner said.
At Harrison Park Elementary, students and staff donated new mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, undergarments and socks to decorate the Christmas tree in the school lobby. Donated items were delivered to the Westmoreland Community Action for distribution to families in need.
Amy Winchell, a spokeswoman for the Community Women’s Club of Level Green, which spearheaded the collection, said Harrison Park Elementary collects the largest amount of donations each year.
