Allegheny County reports 664 new covid cases, 10 deaths

Allegheny County reported 664 new covid cases and 10 new covid deaths Thursday, per the county Health Department.

There have now been 58,372 total cases and 1,067 deaths reported in the county.

In the first seven days of the month and year, 4,563 cases and 112 deaths have been reported.

Ages of new deaths were 70 or older, with one person in their 70s, five in their 80s, three in their 90s and one more than 100 years old. Five deaths were associated with long-term care facilities. Of the 112 deaths reported so far this year, here is a breakdown of their ages:

50s – 1

60s – 7

70s – 26

80s – 45

90s -30

100s – 1

Of the new cases, 448 are confirmed and are 216 probable. The cases range from 4 months to 107 years old, with a median age of 43. Dates of new positive tests range from Nov. 27 to Wednesday, with the health department noting that 24 tests are more than a week old.

In Allegheny County, there are 627 covid-19 patients hospitalized, with 178 in the ICU and 61 on ventilators, according to the state Department of Health. There are 61 ICU and 366 medical/surgical beds available in the county, which represent about 10% of those types, according to the DOH covid-19 dashboard.
