Forbes Hospital on bus route
The Port Authority of Allegheny County has added regular daily bus service connecting Forbes Hospital to surrounding communities.
Forbes Hospital now serves as a stop to the P68 Braddock Flyer route. It will be located between the hospital’s visitor entrance C and professional building 2. A bus shelter is expected to be built. For now, a 100-foot parking lane for bus access has been constructed.
Service will run from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays every 30 minutes during peak traffic hours and every hour during nonpeak hours. The route will run from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every hour on Saturdays and from 5:30 a.m. to 9:10 p.m. every 70 minutes on Sundays.
The new route starts at Monroeville Mall, where park-and-ride space is available. From there, it takes Monroeville Boulevard and Mosside Boulevard to get to the hospital. After the hospital stop, the route goes through East Pittsburgh, North Braddock, Braddock Hills, Braddock and Forest Hills before joining the East Busway.
Holiday Greens Sale slated
The Garden Club of Monroeville will hold its annual Holiday Greens Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Monroeville Community Park West, under pavilion 3. Available for purchase will be evergreen boughs tied into bows, centerpieces holding fresh greens or artificial flowers, wreaths and potted branches in vases.
