Nike Sibande, a 6-foot-4 transfer guard from Miami (Ohio), may have to wait until the 2021-22 season to play basketball for Pitt.

The NCAA has denied Sibande’s waiver request to play immediately, instead of sitting out one season as a transfer. He has one season of eligibility remaining.

Pitt plans to appeal the ruling.

When he’s ruled eligible, Sibande may provide additional scoring punch for coach Jeff Capel. He scored 1,463 points in 97 games at Miami, averaging 15.1, 16.1 and 13.9 points per game over the past three seasons.
