Pittsburgh rock icon Joe Grushecky will be a featured performer today at the Democratic National Convention.

Grushecky will play “That’s What Makes Us Great” with his band, the Houserockers, along with a solo acoustic version of “Never Be Enough Time,” during a 14-state meeting this afternoon.

Grushecky wrote “That’s What Makes Us Great” after President Donald Trump’s 2016 inauguration. The title is a play on Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” and the lyrics take aim at the administration’s position on immigration.

He recorded the track in 2017 with long-time collaborator Bruce Springsteen.

“Never Be Enough Time” will be played in tribute to Beau Biden, the late son of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Pittsburgh native and New Jersey politician Pat Politano is a convention delegate and told New Jersey Stage that he helped set up Grushecky’s performance.

“Joe sings about the soul of Pittsburgh, which is the soul of America,” Politano told the site. “He speaks directly to the people of Pennsylvania and his selection shows how important Pennsylvania is to the campaign. The campaign is a battle for the soul of the nation.”

Beau Biden was a Grushecky fan, according to a release.
