On Tuesday, Allegheny County continued its trend of lower daily covid-19 case numbers in August. The county Department of Health reported 45 new cases — the lowest number of new cases since June 25.
In the month of August, the county has added 1,455 covid-19 cases, as compared to 3,365 added by the same point last month.
The county’s total number of cases stands at 9,549 with 6,479 recoveries. According to the county’s covid-19 dashboard 137,198 individuals have been tested for the virus. The county has a 7% overall positive test rate.
The newest cases range in age from 17 to 91 years, with a median age of 45 years. The date of positive tests ranged from July 14-Aug. 17.
The county reported one death Tuesday of a person in their 70s who died Aug. 17. The case was associated with a long-term care facility, the department said. The county’s total number of deaths is 291.
There were 17 hospitalizations added Tuesday. According to the state, there are currently 94 Allegheny County residents in the hospital for the virus, with 21 of them on ventilators. In all, 887 people have been hospitalized for covid-19 in the county.
