Longue Vue Golf Club is celebrating 100 years.

Oakmont Country Club and Longue Vue will be stroke-play sites before the match-play portion of the event shifts to Oakmont.

As part of the celebration, a number of historical documents and artifacts will be displayed on the club’s website.

Founded in 1920 by a group of businessmen known as the “Millionaires’ Club,” Longue Vue’s golf course was “planned” by Robert White, the first president of the Professional Golf Association.

The uniquely designed clubhouse, built in 1925, is certified as a Historic Landmark by the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation.

Longue Vue president David Gilpatrick said the centennial pays tribute to its past.

“This achievement would not have been possible without the foresight of our founders, a sense of ownership from our membership over the years and an exceptional group of managers and staff,” he said in a news release. “We look forward to preserving — and enhancing — the unique culture and rich traditions of Longue Vue not only today but for years to come.”
