People gathered Saturday afternoon in front of the City-County Building in Downtown Pittsburgh for a sit-in.
The event, “Civil Saturdays — Strike at the City-County Building,” got under way shortly after 3 p.m. and drew a crowd that filled the street outside the building.
Chants called for police reform, and some shared personal stories. At one point, the group paused in silence for 16 minutes after reading names of 16 black transgender people who have been killed.

The event is the third “Civil Saturday” to take place, with the first occurring in Bakery Square. The second was a march that started at Forbes and Murray avenues and went close to 5 miles, according to the organizing group Black, Young and Educated (B.Y.E.).
