The familiar ping of slot machines returned to four casinos in the region after a three-month closure due to public safety concerns caused by the coronavirus.

The Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Washington County joined the Rivers Casino on Pittsburgh’s North Shore Tuesday as they reopened since being ordered to close in March because of the covid-19 pandemic.

The Meadows, near Washington, will be open 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily with slot machines reconfigured to meet social distancing requirements. Table games will have a maximum player number based on the type of game, the Meadows said on its website.

The Poker Room, bowling alley and valet will remain closed and restaurant offerings are temporarily limited and serviced from The Eatery and Bistecca Steakhouse.

Meanwhile, Mountaineer Casino in Chester W.Va., and the Wheeling Island Casino in Wheeling, W.Va., reopened Friday.

Thoroughbred horse racing resumed at Mountaineer on May 31, according to its operator, Century Casinos in Colorado Springs, Colo.

According to Wheeling Island’s website, it reopened at 50% capacity, citing state directives, and will feature a reduced number of slots, live racing without spectators but with on-site wagering, and simulcast wagering.

Neither table games nor sports betting are available there, the website said.

Lady Luck Casino in Farmington, Fayette County, will reopen 10 a.m. Friday, according to manager Gary Hendricks.

The casino at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort will be open 24 hours a day. Table games will run 2 p.m. to midnight on weekends and 3 p.m. to midnight weekdays.
