With five days left before the June 2 presidential primary, Westmoreland County still needs to fill poll worker jobs at dozens of precincts.

County officials last week announced it needed to fill as many as 100 jobs at the polls. While many of those positions have since been filled, vacancies continue to mount.

“We’re losing them just as fast as we fill them,” said Elections Bureau Director Beth Lechman.

A call was put out Thursday to fill openings at 38 of 307 precincts that will operate Tuesday. As many as 90 jobs still need to be filled.

Precincts with openings are located in Allegheny Township, Arnold, Derry, Greensburg, Hempfield, Irwin, Laurel Mountain, Ligonier, Lower Burrell, Monessen, Mt. Pleasant, Murrysville, New Kensington, North Belle Vernon, North Huntingdon, Penn Township, Sewickley, South Huntingdon, Sutersville, Unity, Upper Burrell, Vandergrift and Washington Township.

Judges of elections are paid $130 and poll workers earn $95 for the day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Job seekers can call the elections bureau at 724-830-3564.
