Allegheny County officials reported 21 additional covid-19 cases and two new deaths on Friday.

This brings the county’s total number of deaths to 146 and the total confirmed and probable cases to 1,739. The first case was reported in the county on March 14.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health said it had counted 154 deaths for Allegheny County as of Friday. Its figures are sourced from the state’s Electronic Death Registration System.

The Allegheny County Health Department pulls coronavirus data from the state National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, but does not have access the Electronic Death Registration System that the state uses, a county spokesperson said.

Past or present hospitalizations in Allegheny County rose to 314, with at least 125 people admitted to the intensive care unit and 67 people needing a ventilator.

More than 27,000 tests have been administered in Allegheny County, which moved to the yellow phase of Gov. Tom Wolf’s reopening plan last week.

County officials have said there could be a spike in cases as a result of reopening, but test data likely will not reflect those results for another two weeks.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Friday reported that there have been 66,258 cases and 4,984 deaths statewide since the first case was reported March 6.
