Pennsylvanians now can buy up to 12 bottles of booze at a time at the state’s Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores, and the Liquor Control Board announced it is opening more stores for curbside pickup, including locations in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
The PLCB on Friday doubled the limit on orders from six bottles to 12. Starting next week, it will open 14 more stores for curbside pickup, including stores in West Deer, Latrobe, Monessen, Irwin and Avonmore. A list of stores open for curbside pickup can be found here.
Officials have slowly expanded liquor store operations since Gov. Tom Wolf ordered all stores closed March 17 to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Online-only sales started April 1. The PLCB was criticized widely for lengthy delays that prevented potential customers from logging in and placing an order.
Telephone orders with curbside pickup began April 20 at 176 stores, generating complaints about the inability to place orders because of chronic busy signals.
The PLCB expanded the number of open stores Monday to 565. By next week, only four of its stores will remain closed for renovations.
As of April 30, curbside sales have resulted in 213,433 liquor orders totaling $17.41 million.
The PLCB resumed filling orders by retail license holders through 13 licensee service centers and Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores. Customers can start placing special orders for items not stocked in liquor stores.
