Local governments are adapting as quickly as possible to keep municipal business going amid the spread of coronavirus. Here’s how groups in the Star’s coverage area are handling meetings in the foreseeable future.

Franklin Regional School District

Franklin Regional’s school board will be conducting meetings via the Zoom digital meeting platform, and livestreaming them on YouTube.

The board’s agenda will be published at least 24 hours in advance of meetings, and the public will be able to submit comments to board secretary Donna Wolf for the public comment portion of meetings.

Those emailed comments will be made part of the agenda and posted to the Board Docs website where agendas are posted.

“I worked with the Department of Open Records and came up with a process for moving forward, to make sure the process was as open to the public as possible, and to give them an ability to interact with the board,” Solicitor Gary Matta said.

In addition to being livestreamed, meetings will be recorded and posted to the district’s website.

Public comments can be emailed to dwolf@franklinregional.k12.pa.us. Meetings can be viewed online at Youtube.com/users/FranklinRegionalSD.

Murrysville council

Murrysville officials will also hold “virtual” meetings using the Zoom platform. Meetings also will be livestreamed through the municipality’s website and viewable on Comcast local access Channel 19.

Export council

Export council officials canceled their regular April meeting and are looking at how to proceed with borough business.

Council President Barry Delissio said routine monthly expenses will continue to be paid on time, “but the other things that require a vote will be held off until the next meeting.”

“If something pressing happens, we’ll have to schedule a special meeting, and we can do it by phone or however we have to do it,” Delissio said.

Delmont Borough officials could not be immediately reached as to plans for future meetings.
