The Allegheny County Treasurer’s office has closed in order to minimize employees’ risk of exposure to the coronavirus,

The office will remain closed until further notice. Payments for all Treasurer’s Office transactions, including real estate taxes, license purchases and special taxes, can be made online at the office website: AlleghenyCountyTreasurer.us.

“This isn’t a decision I make lightly, but it is the right decision,” Treasurer John K. Weinstein said in a statement Tuesday. “People come first. We all share a responsibility to do our parts to minimize the effects of this virus, and my part is to help reduce spread by temporarily keeping my team home and encouraging our neighbors throughout Allegheny County to stay home when possible.”

The deadline to receive the 2% Allegheny County real estate tax discount has been extended to April 30.

The deadline to pay the face value amount has been changed to May 31.

Many county agencies and offices are operating under special policies during the covid-19 outbreak. A full list of operational changes is available at the Allegheny County website: alleghenycounty.us.
