Pitt will be the No. 13 seed and open the 14-team ACC Tournament at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday against No. 12 Wake Forest at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Pitt (15-16, 6-14) will attempt to stop a seven-game losing streak and get back to .500 for the season.

The game is a rematch of Pitt’s 69-65 loss to Wake Forest on Jan. 4 at Petersen Events Center. Wake Forest finished the season with a 13-17 record, 6-14 in the ACC.

In the first game, Pitt led at halftime, 30-27, and junior guard Ryan Murphy scored 18 points, with four 3-pointers, while playing all 40 minutes. He led four Pitt players in double figures. Trey McGowens added 12 points, Justin Champagnie and Xavier Johnson 11 each.

If Pitt wins, it will play No. 5 seed N.C. State in the second round Tuesday. Pitt has won two games in the ACC Tournament only once, beating Wake Forest and North Carolina before losing to Virginia in 2014. That was the Panthers’ first season in the league.

Pitt/Wake Forest will be the first game of a first-round doubleheader, also featuring No. 11 Virginia Tech and No. 14 North Carolina.
