Allegheny County police are investigating after they said a man was found shot dead in his Baldwin home.

Officials said they were called shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday to the 3300 block of Vernon Avenue, where they found the 28-year-old man identified as Jeremy Dentel, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Dentel was last seen Friday at 8 p.m. Investigators were able to determine Dentel was using a messaging app until 6 p.m. Saturday, according to police. Detectives also learned that a heavy set white man was in the area at the same time and date.

Dentel had been shot once in the head, police said. The medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Allegheny County Police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477).
