Pitt redshirt freshman setter Maddie Soboleski, who last season ranked second in assists for the ACC women’s volleyball champion Panthers, has transferred to South Alabama.

Soboleski, an Edinboro native, announced the move Tuesday on her Instagram account, and the transfer was confirmed by the Pitt athletic department.

She recorded 140 assists for Pitt, which went 30-2 overall and won the ACC title with an 18-0 record. Soboleski saw action in 21 of Pitt’s 32 matches and 48 of 111 sets. She turned in a season-high 18 assists in a win over N.C. State and also recorded 15 assists and a season-high six digs in a victory over Florida State.

Pitt was ranked No. 2 in the national poll before losing to Cincinnati in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

South Alabama, which competes in the Sun Belt, finished 20-11 last season.
