All lanes of Route 8 were reopened on the 62nd Street Bridge hours after tractor trailer crash partially closed them Thursday afternoon, according to PennDOT.

The crash was reported about 2:33 p.m., an Allegheny County 911 supervisor said.

PennDOT officials announced all lanes were reopened shortly after 6 p.m.

Pittsburgh police and firefighters found the driver of the truck outside of the cab with his load of old, crushed vehicles on the road, according to Public Safety spokesman Maurice Matthews.

The driver was not injured, and no other vehicles were involved, Matthews said.

The bridge carries Route 8 over the Allegheny River and connects Pittsburgh’s Upper Lawrenceville neighborhood to Sharpsburg and Etna.
