A shooting Wednesday in Pittsburgh’s Perry South neighborhood left one man dead and a woman wounded, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Norwood and Kennedy avenues, according to police.

A man was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, said Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri. A woman was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as Cedric L. Mack, 41, of Duquesne.

Investigators searched the area for suspects to no avail, Togneri said.

A shooting happened about the same time of day near the same block in June. An 18-year-old shot a 16-year-old boy in the face. The elder teen, Ian Cook, was charged with attempted homicide in August. The juvenile returned fire but did not hit Cook. He was charged with a firearm violation.
