COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Penguins recalled forward Joseph Blandisi from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL on Friday afternoon.

The transaction comes after forward Bryan Rust was shaken up following a fall in the morning skate at Nationwide Arena. Rust left the ice for a few minutes but returned for a power-play drill.

Rust was not available to reporters but could be seen walking through the dressing room in street clothes with a slight limp.

When asked if there was concern over Rust being available for Friday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, coach Mike Sullivan said Rust would “be fine.“

Rust has been one of the team’s most potent offensive weapons this season with 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in only 14 games.

This is Blandisi’s third recall of the season. In nine NHL games, he has two points (one goal, one assist).

Following Friday’s game, the Penguins are scheduled to travel to St. Louis to face the defending Stanley Cup champion Blues on Saturday.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
