Kason Harrell was released by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA G League on Nov. 6.

Guess how many days since then the former Hempfield star sulked about his first shot at the pros?

Better yet, guess how many days he did not pick up a basketball in that time?

“Literally, none,” Harrell said. “As soon as I came home, it was right back to work. I had no time to sit around and feel bad for myself. All I could do was keep working and trust that God had another door open for me.”

Harrell’s perseverance did lead him to another opportunity. The talented guard announced Friday he has signed with the Killester Basketball Club and will be playing professionally in Dublin, Ireland.

Harrell, who made his mark in college at Purdue Fort Wayne, said Killester contacted his agent a few days after he returned from Fort Wayne and a deal was in the works.

He said the deal with team Pyrobel appears to be for one year.

Killester plays in the Super League in Ireland.

“All I can say is the same thing I always say,” Harrell said. “This wouldn’t be possible without my Lord Jesus Christ and just trusting in his plan for me and just continuing to grind and grind each day.”

Killester won five championships and three National Cup titles from 2001-14.
