Diamond Antiques and Gifts in Tarentum will sponsor an Antique Appraisal Fair on Sunday.

It’s the Alle-Kiski Valley’s version of “Antiques Roadshow.”

Diamond Antiques and Gifts will sponsor an Antique Appraisal Fair on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at its Tarentum store, 311 East Six Avenue.

There is a charge of $5 per item.

The appraiser is Jeff Poole, who owns On the Diamond Antiques in Ligonier. He is a longtime antiques dealer who has evaluated antiques at the Heinz History Center and for a number of historical societies.

Diamond Antiques has been holding the appraisal fair for about a decade, according to owner Dianna Roney.

“We do it as a service to our customers and because it’s fun to see what people have,” she said.

People typically bring paintings, jewelry, porcelain and small furniture for appraisal, according to Roney. She advises against bringing collector plates and Barbie dolls because they don’t hold any value.
