Motorists traveling east on Interstate 70 will follow a detour to head south on Route 119 beginning Monday, as work continues to improve lighting and resurface ramps at the interchange in New Stanton.
The ramp motorists normally use will be closed for repairs and a detour will be in place for about four weeks, using a series of three exits, PennDOT officials said. Traffic will exit onto northbound Route 66, then onto westbound I-70, before exiting onto southbound Route 119.
Intermittent daylight lane closures may occur as crews prepare for the ramp closure.
Golden Triangle Construction Company is expected to continue work on the overall $3 million interchange project through April.
The work includes replacement of outdated highway lighting with LED lights and patching and reconstruction of some pavement. Other upgrades include concrete repairs on a 600-foot section of Route 119, reconstruction of an asphalt shoulder for an improved acceleration lane along the highway’s northbound lanes and bridge preservation work on ramps that cross over a rail line and span Sewickley Creek.
