Supporters of the Latrobe Art Center traveled country roads July 21 to Jamison Farm in Unity, site of the center’s annual lamb dinner fundraiser.
Farm owners John and Sukey Jamison have been raising sheep and lambs on their picturesque 210-acre farm for more than 40 years, earning a national reputation for the quality of their meats, pasture-raised on bluegrass and other seasonal grasses, white clover and wildflowers.
Sukey Jamison approached the center about hosting the fundraising dinner several years ago, said LAC executive director Lauren Buches. The first dinner proved so popular that it’s become a much-anticipated annual event.
The menu, in the words of Sukey Jamison, was “lamb, lamb and more lamb.” Broken down, that included a first course of green salad with lamb sausage; a main course trio of shoulder cut, rib chop and tenderloin of lamb; and dessert of (sorry, no lamb here) carrot cake.
Don Ghion tended the grill while about 50 guests, including board members Kathy Rafferty, Kathy Sobota and Marty Singer, enjoyed the tasty repast and the balmy summer evening.
