An East Pittsburgh man wanted for a 2017 rape at Indiana University of Pennsylvania was arrested Thursday in East Pittsburgh.

Donte Robinson-Vearnon, 20, was apprehended at an apartment in the 500 block of Grandview Avenue in East Pittsburgh shortly after 6 p.m. Allegheny County sheriff’s deputies forced their way into the apartment and found Robinson-Vernon hiding in a bedroom, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

They arrested him without further incident and booked him at the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh, where he awaits arraignment on an arrest warrant out of Indiana County.

Robinson-Vernon is accused of raping a woman at IUP in October 2017. He has been wanted by authorities since March 20, when the arrest warrant was issued.

He faces charges of rape of an unconscious victim, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an unconscious victim, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent of others and aggravated indecent assault of an unconscious person, the sheriff’s office said.

Robinson-Vearnon also was wanted on an Allegheny County bench warrant for failing to appear at a preliminary hearing regarding a drug charge originating in McKeesport.
