Pittsburgh police on Tuesday provided a helping hand to yet another reptile found roaming the city — a large turtle.

The turtle was spotted about 5:25 p.m. on the road near Butler and 47th streets in Lawrenceville.

Citizens flagged down police officers, who stopped and confirmed the existence of the turtle. Officers called Animal Care & Control, which took the turtle back to the river to release it.

No turtles, citizens or police were injured, police said.

Reptiles seem to be flocking to Pittsburgh.

Three alligators recently were found loose in the city. All were taken to Humane Animal Rescue in Pittsburgh, which said the gators will go to Cape May County Zoo in New Jersey until they can be transported to a sanctuary in Florida.
