Pittsburgh native and WTAE news reporter Beau Berman announced Friday that he has moved on from reporting television news.
In a Friday evening Facebook post to his followers, Berman described his time as a journalist in the Steel City as “an absolute honor.”
Berman was hired to the station in 2015 after working in Texas and Connecticut, according to WTAE’s website.
He was credited as one of the first reporters on the scene after the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the website said.
The Schenley High School and Penn State grad thanked his colleagues for their support throughout his tenure at WTAE.
He listed some of the highlights of his Pittsburgh career ranging from covering Stanley Cup wins, to Pirates playoff games and the slayings of both New Kensington Police Officer Brian Shaw and Antwon Rose II.
Berman said his decision to leave TV comes from the “desire to give back” and that he will take on a job at Neshannock Township School District in Lawrence County as it launches a digital video production program.
