All are invited to 885/Andrew Reilly Memorial Park on June 8 for food, friends and fireworks, when Jefferson Hills hosts its community day from noon to 10 p.m.

Held in conjunction with TJ Youth Baseball’s All Star Day, Jefferson Hills Community Day is meant to bring the entire community together to kick off the summer, said Holly Rubinoff, Jefferson Hills recreation board member.

Pleasant Hills Community Day, held Aug. 10, then caps off the summer.

“It truly is for the whole TJ district,” Rubinoff said. “It’s just a wonderful day for the kids and the family.”

At Jefferson Hills, Pittsburgh radio station 93.7 The Fan will be broadcasting live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from the youth baseball event.

There will be something for everyone throughout the day, with roughly 50 vendors onsite. Prizes will be randomly given out throughout the day.

Shuttle service will be provided from 3 to 9 p.m. from the Jefferson Hospital lower lot.

South Hills favorites Yoli’s Cucina & Crafthouse and Atria’s Restaurant both will serve up food, along with Big Girls BBQ, Pittsburgh Kettle Corn, Kona Ice and Mobile Munchies.

For anyone looking for a drink, Country Hammer Moonshine will have taste testings. New this year, KingView Mead also will offer wine tastings.

Also new this year, TJ Hockey will have a shootout game and sell the ever-popular Jaguar pawprints for the yard, Rubinoff said.

Performances on stage will start at 2 p.m.

A fan favorite from last year, The Wild World of Animals, will return with a show at 6 p.m.

Just in front of the stage, they’ll bring wild animals that last year included a monkey and large tortoise.

“The kids loved it. The adults loved it,” Rubinoff said.

There will be activities for kids all day with the Eurojump and Redemption Church’s gaga ball game, which was another hit last year.

A petting zoo will run from noon to 8 p.m.

The basketball courts, which the Jefferson Hills Recreational Initiative and Jefferson Hills Borough recently refinished with new backboards, hoops and blacktop, also will be open for play.

The finale includes a performance by The Stickers at 7 p.m. and fireworks around 9 p.m.

“It’s just so much fun for the kids,” Rubinoff said. “It’s just a really nice community day.”
