Franklin Regional senior Palmer Jackson looking for spot in U.S. Open sectional

The last U.S. Open local qualifier is Monday at The Club at Nevillewood near Bridgeville.

A field of 78 golfers will begin play at 9 a.m. They will play for four spots and two alternate spots in sectional qualifying.

The field includes PIAA Class AAA champion Palmer Jackson of Franklin Regional, professional Mike Van Sickle, top amateur Sean Knapp, Oakmont head professional Devin Gee and Andrew Friend.

Matt Nagy won the local qualifier May 8 at Windber Country Club. Nagy shot 4-under-par 68 to edge J.D. Hughes, who fired 3-under 69.
