High school students from Greater Latrobe and Ligonier Valley will face off for a good cause May 17 in a role-reversal basketball game in the Greater Latrobe Senior High main gym.

For the “Playing for Paws” game, cheerleaders will become players and players will serve as cheerleaders.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the game begins at 7 p.m. For admission, those attending will be asked to make a donation benefiting two local organizations that serve animals — the Action For Animals Humane Society shelter in Derry Township and the foster-based Helping Hearts and Healing Tails Animal Rescue group based in Stahlstown.

The event is being jointly organized by each high school’s Interact Club, a youth affiliate of Rotary International.

A concession stand with light refreshments will be available throughout the game. A basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing also will be featured.
