A Beaver County couple managed to make it safely out of their home after it caught on fire Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported about 4:30 a.m. on Thompson Hill Road in Independence Township, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.

Officials told WPXI the blaze appeared to have started in the basement. Tankers were brought in to fight the fire because there were no hydrants nearby.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control before it spread but said there is some damage inside the home, the station reported.
