The MyHikes website allows hikers and backpackers to share information on their favorite trails, like this portion of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

Tired of taking the same old hike along the same old trail? Maybe it’s time to check out myhikes.org.

The website is billed as an independent platform on which hikers and backpackers can share information on their favorite trails by importing GPX files from apps and tracking devices.

MyHikes currently has information on more than 3,100 miles of trails in 27 states, including 229 trails within 60 miles of Pittsburgh, from urban to suburban to remote, including length, difficulty, amenities, features (i.e., waterfalls, lookouts, dog friendliness) and more.

There’s also information on how to track trails using smartphone apps and GPS devices, to upload to the site to help other outdoor enthusiasts find new adventures.
