‘Book’ it
This is the final weekend to see “Book of Mormon,” winner of nine Tony awards, including best musical. The show runs through Sunday at Heinz Hall, Downtown. The “Book of Mormon” features book, music, and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. The production is choreographed by Casey Nicholaw and is directed by Nicholaw and Parker. There is a ticket lottery for inexpensive seats prior to each performance.

Go green
The city is celebrating Earth Day a few days early. April 22 is Earth Day, but there are plenty of events this weekend such as Paint the Square Green on Friday and Saturday. Market Square, Downtown, which will feature a world market with a mix of local vendors specializing in earth-friendly products and services, along with organic and educational vendors and live music. There will also be a food truck festival both days from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center, Downtown will host AWCommunity Day on Saturday. This is a free event that aims to provide a fun and educational experience centered on the African American existence and the late playwright August Wilson. This family-friendly day features local vendors, artisans, performers and community building at the center.

American country music singer and songwriter Granger Smith who will perform Saturday at Stage AE on the North Side, began his career at 19 when he moved to Nashville, Tenn. from Dallas, Texas.
His debut studio album, “Dirt Road Driveway,” was released in 2013 via Pioneer Music and peaked at number 15 on U.S. country charts and number 11 on U.S. indie charts. He releases a second album, “Remington” in 2016 and a third, “When The Good Guys Win” in 2017.
