Burned-out bulb led to drug charges in North Apollo, police say

An Indiana County man accused of having drugs in a car that police said they pulled over in North Apollo because it had a burned-out license plate light is headed to trial.
Jacob Shane Penrose, 31, of Clune, appeared for a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge James Andring in Leechburg. Penrose’s attorney, Joseph Edward Hudak, agreed to let the case proceed to Armstrong County Common Pleas Court.
Police said in a criminal complaint that they pulled over a car driven by Penrose late last month along Route 66.
Police said Penrose was shaking when they asked for identification. Suboxone and a white powder, later determined to be methamphetamine, were found.
Penrose is charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, driving an unregistered car on which there was no insurance, two drug offenses and four vehicle-code offenses.
A trial will be scheduled.
