Pat Narduzzi had a busy Saturday, leading his team through its 11th practice of the spring – a scrimmage at Heinz Field – and getting his first verbal commitment from the class of 2020.

While visiting the university and after watching the scrimmage, defensive end Sam Williams announced on his Twitter account his plans to enroll next year.

Williams, 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, is a three-star prospect from Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He also has offers from South Florida and Syracuse. Pitt signed six players from Florida last year.

The commitment gets Pitt off to an early start in the recruiting season. Williams is the first Pitt player to commit in April since linebacker Kyle Nunn, who pledged in 2016 and signed in 2017.

Pitt didn’t gets first commitment last year until June.
