A wrong-way driver died early Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Washington County, according to investigators.

Amanda Sue Towns, 25, of Morgantown, W.Va., was traveling north in the southbound lanes at 3:50 a.m. in North Strabane Township, just north of the Canonsburg exit, according to a news release.

Towns crashed into another vehicle that was traveling southbound. The driver, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital for treatment, state police said.

Towns was wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner. Her cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.
