Pitt-Johnstown junior Chris Eddins recently won his second NCAA Division II wrestling title by defeating Tiffin’s Trey Grine, 7-2, on March 9, in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Greensburg Salem graduate won the 149-pound title and on Thursday was named the National Wrestling Coaches Association Super Region I Wrestler of the Year. He was dominating during the season while going 24-0.
Eddins won the 141 title in 2018.
He overcame some mid-season injuries to claim his second title.
Now he will be placed on a ballot for consideration of the NCAA Division II Wrestler of the Year.
Eddins finished second in the country as the most dominant wrestler in Division II. He had five falls, six technical falls and six major decisions.
Pitt-Johnstown’s Brock Biddle was named the region’s Freshman of the Year.
