Icy road conditions caused a fiery, head-on collision Monday morning in Fawn, state police said.

The collision was reported about 6:50 a.m. in the 1200 block of Millerstown Road.

Trooper Patrick Carlson of the Kittanning barracks said a southbound pickup on Millerstown Road crossed the center line and collided with a northbound SUV.

The pickup burst into flames. Firefighters put out the fire.

Carlson said the drivers, both men, were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries. They were the only occupants of the vehicles.

Mary Thompson, who lives nearby, said she was in the bathroom when she heard two big booms. After the second one, she looked outside.

“All I saw was the fire. It was big. The whole thing was ablaze,” she said. “It was bad. I’ve never seen a fire like that.”
