Clearfield Township resident Gregory Walter announced Thursday he will seek the 11th District state House seat in the May 21 special election.
The seat was left empty after former Rep. Brian Ellis resigned earlier this month after allegations came to light he allegedly had sex with a woman against her will while she was unconscious.
Ellis hasn’t been charged. He has denied the allegations through a statement from his attorney.
Walter, 63, is a Republican and ran against Ellis in the 2007 primary.
Walter retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1993 after 21 years. He owns and operates The Barn at Ever Thine, a special event and wedding venue.
“I believe the people of the 11th District deserve someone who is more in touch with their values, needs and wants,” Walter said. “If elected for the position, I would use my business expertise and previous military background to bring necessary changes to Harrisburg.”
Walter and his wife, Laura, have five children and five grandchildren.
