A man police say assaulted and robbed a woman while he was naked earlier this month is set to appear in court next week.

Robert E. Brown, 48, of Lower Burrell, was released on $5,000 unsecured bond after being arraigned this week by District Judge Cheryl J. Peck-Yakopec in Allegheny Township. He is set to appear for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

Court records don’t list an attorney for him.

Brown is accused of assaulting the woman and stealing her sweatshirt late March 13 along Leechburg Road.

Police said the two didn’t know each other.

Following the alleged assault, police tracked Brown to a vacant house along Leechburg Road, where he was arrested and handcuffed without incident. He allegedly broke into the house and was wearing the sweatshirt he ripped from the woman earlier.

Brown told police he had been smoking “glass” and using PCP, methamphetamine and marijuana.

He was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Harrison to be evaluated. While there, he allegedly struck a police officer in the face, partially knocking off the officer’s glasses.

Brown faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property, making terroristic threats, simple assault, indecent exposure, criminal mischief, open lewdness and public drunkenness.
